We travelled 11 km out of Jaipur to visit the stunning impressive Amer Fort also known as Amber Fort. This was built in 1592 and is a superb example of Rajput architecture. This was originally the capital until it was moved to Jaipur. It is an opulent palace complex built with red standstone and marble. A longish drive to Jaipur, but we were able to appreciate the excitement of Indian traffic chaos along the way. It was always an amusing exercise to observe 2 sets of opposing traffic trying to make their way (at the same time) through a gap only meant for 1 lane of traffic.
