I AM ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha..anyways..after Noosa, we left there went to Rainbow beach for a night - it rained, end of story.
We caught the bus from Rainbow beach to Hervey Bay...to see the Fraser Island :) Had a brilliant weekend. We did a 4x4 self drive around the island for 2 nights/3days! So so much fun! There was the 6 of us lot and then 3 others - german girl and 2 canadians which were mother and daughter and they ditched us and went home on day 2 because they didnt sleep well...hmmm okay! What do you think camping is about?
I was designated first driver ahhh! Im used to drive my teeny tiny corsa so i was a tad nervous, however once i was in it was soooo much fun! Driving along the beaches was better minus the thousands of bumps and ditches we didnt quite manage to slow down for! There was myself, Gemma and Maria driving - well done to us all :) we lived to tell the tale.
So the first day we went to Eli Creek - this was lovely, we swam, walked, crawled, fell over and i scared the crap out of everyone by thinking there was a crocodile when in actual fact it was a very large broken tree under the water...sorry again about that! After that we went and visited the Shipwreck - it was huge, not what i was expecting at all!! After this we went and saw the pinnacles and then we got lost trying to find out camping site - happy days :)
Once found the campsite we were met with "Nick"! Well he was the scariest man ive ever met in my life to begin with - he worked/owned the K'Gari campsite..he just stared at us..pointed to a bit on the grass and told us to pitch up! So yup thats what we did and then the canadians cooked up a storm - chicken, burgers and sausages cooked on the barbi with salad mmmmm!! Afterwards it was washed down with one to many glasses of goon and salt and vinegar homebrand crisps :) We were all pretty knackered after the 5am start so headed to bed about half 11...myself and Jill slept in the 4x4 - we felt safer!
After a goods night sleep i awoke to a Dingo staring at me through the window quickly woke jill up and we darted off to the toilets (the gents the ladies i was too scared of!) to shower! The ladies toilets was dark, green, spider webs everywhere and HUGE spiders covered the place - there was no hope in hell i was setting a foot in it! So we used the gents which was very nice and pretty clean considering - minus the pee smell! Well showering was a laugh, something touched me when i had my eyes closed so i screamed my head off from start to finish - quickesrt shower in my life and not to be repeated! Had breakfast and off we went :) First stop was Indian head - amazing views and we saw a Stingray - and that was it! I was disappointed i expected to see dolphins, sharks and whales - i saw nothing! O well, still lovely and hot! Oh the woman who worked on that part scared the crap out of us - watch out for the dingos (dingos are wild dogs for those not in the know - they look a bit like foxes!) apparently a pack of dingo's dragged a 6 foot man into the water with the intentions of eating him alive! so my eyes were carefully on the lookout!
After indian head, we drove to a shop and i had the best/juicest icicle i have ever ever tasted - pineapple and watermelon soooo good! Then we went to the champagne pools - a-maz-ing! haha. They were sooo warm and i accidently fell into a little pool and it was too hot!!
Got back to campsite about 5ish, (have to be back for then for the tides as we driveon the beach!) and i cracked on with the goon :) Well we made delicious pasta with sauce and veg and then drank, the others from oz intro were also there so we sat up playing drinking games, and then i joined some others drinking and dancing to geeetar music and then the "boombox" came out hehe!! I don't remember getting to bed and i had my worst hangover ever in Australia the following day.
Next day we were all really looking forward to Lake McKenzie...got packed up...i was just standing and no more and then we were told "guys you can't go now the beach is covered in water, tidal wave on its way"...er okay! Fab! Tidal wave soon turned into Tsunami warnings and we are all stuck on an island (you need a ferry to get you back to dry land..) so this equaled 6 scared s***less girls! Nick and George (George is his cousin....there the only 3 aboriginals left on the island NOT TO BE CALLED ABO'S and you cannot swear or spit in the fire or the bad ghosts will come get you...we were told some horror stories which scared me enough not to try this out!) So nick and george are now telling us well all of us to get to higher ground and off they went leaving us! So we went to high ground in our 4x4 i sat in the front passenger seat - the back was too bumpy thought id be better in the front...was i hell! I was mean to be keeping Maria okay...i sat hanging on for dear life as we drove around cliffs which i couldnt see the bottom off...my head was pounding and my insides were churning of goon!! We get to Lake Allom only to find out we cannot go any further nor should we be this far! It is now nearing half 10 and our ferry leaves at 1.45 and nobody knew what to do! Finally gets a radio station only to hear all East coast beaches are closed nobody is to go on them...we were lviing on the beach with nowhere to go! So in the end we drove back down - sadly i didn't make it and when maria stopped to let a certain someone pee in the bush, i had to make a dash and unfortunately spewed infront of the van in full view of everyone - again very sorry about that guys! It was far too bumpy and did me no favours...back onthe beach now and could barely see a thing and then to top it all off the waves were coming in thick and fast (by this point the beach shoulde rhave been cleared and it was far from it - was meant to be low tide - it was the highest i had seen it since we arrived!) and then to top it all of torrential rain poured down - sooo scary! Eventually made it to urong beach and got into a shop, i then went to the toilets for the same reason as i had to get out of the car only to be drenched in a matter of 2nds! Not a happy ash. I had to drive back to the ferry and it was touch and go.
So sadly because of all this we never got to Lake Mckenzie - absouloutely gutted!!! So I have decided i am still here in november im going back to fraser island for the weekend of my birthday, whatever happens ill be going back to do it again!!
We had a brilliant time on the weekend away, minus the bad weather on the last day, once back to hervey bay we went out to celebrate our life - that we lived and Tsunami did not wipe us out!! Today the beaches have reopend and no tsuanmi warnings hoooraah!!
Off to airlie beach tonight on a 13 hour bus jounrye...can't wait for that one! Tomo it will be Marias birthday so we all get dressed up and go out partying :) Im having withdrawl symptonms from clubbing! Thursday we go off on our sailing trip around the whitsunday islands - i hope to god there is no bad weather for that one haha!!
Pics to follow from the above!!Hope everyone is well and kicking :) Miss and love you allx xxxx
