So, the journey to Koh Tao was a story on its own. I spent the whole 1 hour and 15 minutes in the toilet being sick and all sorts! The waves were huge and i honestly didnt think we'd make it there alive! I wasnt alone, however, 80% of the boat was being sick! We finally arrived into the port (alive), seconds later i merged from the toilet to find Ash staring at me as if to say - what on earth have you been doing in there! Well... It just so happens that the toilet had a shower and to cool myself down i turned it on - oh, i forgot to mention that i was fully clothed! I was drenched from head to toe and my face looked like id ran a marathon. I stumbled off the boat to be met by over 100 people waiting to get on, im pretty sure they thought id gone overboard! That night i spent in bed feeling pretty sorry for myself and wishing id NEVER have to do that again. Except i knew i would, as its the only way off the Island...
Once i'd gotten over my trauma we decided to explore Koh Tao, to be honest its not a huge difference to the previous Islands we had stayed on, but it is famous for its diving and snorkeling, so we booked up to go on a days trip around the Island stopping off at different bays to do a spot of snorkeling, but of course that came with a price - another boat journey! Luckily though the sea was calmer and i made it the whole day without throwing up! Bonus! Plus we got to see some beautiful marine life and stopped off at some idyllic locations.Although we missed out on the sharks because of the mirky waters :(. We liked it so much, that we went shopping the next day for our very own snorkeling kits and tried them out in the hotel pool (the hotel staff must have thought we were bonkers)!
The accommodation we stayed in is right on the beach and had a lovely pool too. There was a parrot that lived right outside our hut under the banana tress and it kept miaowing like a cat which was hilarious! We also found a great pub called Choppers which did great food and had a free pool table.
The next few days the weather turned for the worse so we decided to treat ourselves to a Thai massage to get out of the rain - OUCH! We were stretched into positions that our bodies have and never should be in and at some points i had to stop myself from bursting out with laughter after catching glimpses of Ash's face!
We were meant to be leaving Koh Tao after 3 nights but after 6 nights and a Monsoon later were still here! Today has brightened up, however, and we are hoping to get the boat to mainland this afternoon. Fingers crossed!!!
