Day 20: Aquatics and Old Town
It was our last full day in Orlando so we went to Aquatics water park which was the last theme park of our package. It was a very hot day so when we arrived and got changed in our swim-wear, it was nightmarish to walk on scalding hot pavements and we had to keep to shadows when we can! It got better later on the day when more visitors arrived and their wet footprints provided us with cool rest-spots!
We went to rapids first which was fun as Aquatics provided us with free life jackets so it was easier to float while riding the rapids. The scramble to get discarded remaining medium sized life-jackets ditched by people coming off rapids was not fun as majority of lifejackets was either extra-large or extra small. I had to settle for a small-sized life-jacket!
We went on classic space-bowl ride which is basically a ride on a boat that ended with us circling all around a giant space bowl towards to the hole in the middle before tippling through the hole into a giant swimming tank. The large queue was actually pleasant as we had to grab boats and then float on it on lazy stream until we arrived at stairs where we then queue all way to the top. It was a refreshing change from a full queue.
We went on few more rides including one where you went in a see through tunnel and you could see fishes swimming all over the tank while your tunnel went through inside it. I even saw a black and white dolphin which must be a fishy relative of mine!
All of the boys bar Stuart decided to have a race in rapids where we have to lap the circuit. It was fun with lots of pushing and weaving all around the riders. There was a massive dispute over who won the race as I reached the finishing line first (thanks to my years of practice racing at Centre Parcs) but James who was second touched a rock and awarded himself the winner on the account but Richard whizzed past us and claimed the finishing line was at next exit!
We then sunbathed to dry off and bumped into Slovakian couple that we met at Discovery Cave and we had a great discussion with them regarding the differences in deaf community in UK and Slovakia. We headed back to the campsite and Sara and I decided to take others to Old Town (the old fashioned street and shops that we found few days ago)
