ahh waya lailai. we loved it here. we had the boat trip from hell - freezing cold and wet and i was sick twice as it was really choppy, but then we got there... it was sunny! on land! we got serenaded by the fattest guy in the world playing a bango! haha it was heaven. fijians wear skirts called sulu's to replace the grass skirt, flowery shirts and flowers behind their ears and even the biggest ones giggle like little girls, really, they proper giggle and its dead funny, but man they are manly! they are flippin huge! even the little ones are massive, the sheer size of their feet and hands are amazing, even the women, but when you see how much they eat its no surprise!
at waya lailai me and jonny became friends with alot of fijians, one being jonny the dive instructor. he couldnt belive that we still hadnt seen any sharks so decided to take us on a shark dive the next morning. we turned up a little bit fiji time and jonny didnt look ready to take us, we asked him and he said the others would go; he had drank too much fiji cava and didnt feel great! so off we went. we found a site in the middle of the sea then i got told to jump in.
i was a bit nervous knowing there was 100% guna be sharks there but i jumped in and waited for the others, except they jumped in the other side so i was alone in shark infested water for the first time. i swam around the boat and began the decent - also deeper than we were meant to go! before we even got down there were sharks swimming below us. the biggest was only 2m though as they were just white tip reef sharks.
they were quite curious and some would come quite close to have a look but if you leave them alone and dont antagonise them theyre usually ok. to be honest once i got down there there was so much coral and fish i was looking at the nemos and other fish more than anything. we found a huge puffer fish so i chased that for a while trying to get it to puff but it didnt. we saw a massive eel called big jerry after the fat guy, the divemaster was trying to get it out by waving his fist at it but i keapt me distance!
when youve done a deep dive you have to wait at 5m's for 3mins for the nitrogen to dissolve or something before you get out and when we were waiting there was a jellyfish heading our way; concerned i pointed it out to the dive master and he grabbed it from behind and shoved it in my face! he then threw it away. strange guy! it was a bit horrible because there were about 7 ot 8 jellyfish next to the boat at the surface so i knew i was guna have to watch out. i tried to get out quickly but still got stung on my arm. it wasnt too bad but still hurt, which was gud coz they didnt have vinegar!
