So, yeah iv gone for it, traveling on my own. At first thinking about it all was the scariest thing ever!! It was so droning that I had to it alone, I left Ryan and Ben at the MRT station in little India where we were staying. The night before we had a few beers and played some cards it was pretty nice, but I was still a bit scared for what was to come. I set off on the MRT towards the train station which was pretty out the way and then got in a taxi, I went through immigration and all them kinda checks and sat on my bill in the first class part of the train . It was pretty nice I had a nice amount of leg room which is perfect for me. I was sat amongst a load of Indian/Singaporean old people, I felt pretty rich! It took about 15 hours to get to Butterworth which was a nice journey at first but then it began getting darker and I was worrying a bit about finding somewhere to stay on my own and also I had past loads of horrid villages and shack huts. I Arrived in Butterworth a little later than I had expected so the ticket office was closing so I couldn't pay for the next train in the morning which went into Thailand. I was pleasantly greeted by a taxi man who offerd to take me to a hotel which was in my price range, I obviously was skeptical as I normally am with locals and because iv read you aren't supposed to get into a taxi if they come to you, but he spoke pretty good English and there weren't any other taxi's anywhere so I jumped in. The deal with Pengan is that it's a city on an island and you have to cross by a massive bridge or a ferry, I asked for the price, it was pretty high I told him but at the end of the day I couldn't give a s*** about the money at the time I just wanted to sleep. He gave me a little guide around the city before taking me to a hotel, called the Oriental which was ok and cheap as you can see in some of my pictures. I had a shower and watched abit of desperate housewives because that was the only channel in english, it made me miss you mum lol! The next morning I had told him to pick me up for the train, I arrived at the train a bit early only to find it had been delayed by a few hours. I was the only backpacker at first but a few kept turning up, an old man who talked to himself, I was hoping I didn't turn out like that by the end of it all. A Canadian old women who looked like a travel freak who had a tash... and three younger people, two from the UK and one from Switzerland. I had paid for a bed on this train journey which cost about 90 odd Malaysian R to get to Suratani in Thailand, where I was going to get off and head towards Phuket. I started talking to a guy next to me who looked about 30odd and he had lived in Leeds because he went to uni there few years back. He had some crazy stories about Mexico and how dodgy it was 10 years ago, he had also lived in India for a few months and he had been traveling for ages.I started to get into the hang of traveling on my own and I joined in with the three other travelers in cards and I got to know them. I crossed the border on the train and found I had only a 30day visa which was free or I could do a visa run to get another 30 but I wasn't too bothered so iv decided to cut my trip down from 45 to 30 days, no big deal. With the new 30 day visa I was going to miss the 16th of August full moon party on ko phangan, the next one was on the 19th of July, and the three travelers were going to that one so I asked if I could join them. We sat and drunk beers through the night and talked about traveling it was pretty good! After a few hours on the train the staff started to unfold all the beds and we had a 5 hour knap which was pretty good, but I had to sleep from corner to corner and I stilled touched both ends. Later we arrived in Suratani a few hours late, and then jumped on a van and went to a hotel which worked out about 6quid a room. The following day we got a bus to the ferry which would take us to the island of ko Phangan however you spell it, obviously the taxi took us to a tourist info centre where they tried to charge us 2000b for a room/bungalow they were about to say yes, me with the traveling knowledge told them not to so we ended up paying half that for a better room. We had to pay the first night at the shop and the rest when we were there, we organized a taxi and ferry to Ko Phangan which was also delayed so we had some more beers waited for a few hours. It took around 3 hours to get to the island because the ferry was so big and slow, after a few more beers we got there and began our trip!!!!
