We arrived at the ferry port in Ko Phangan and found a taxi which was heading to the coconut beach resort. We all crammed onto the back of a pick up truck and began to drive endlessly to our resort which was situated north of the island. The roads were dirt/sand/rocks and sometimes concrete, it was the funniest off road experience ever!
We arrived at the coconut beach resort which was right on its own little beach with only 3 other resorts, when I say resorts I mean wood or concrete bungalows and a little restaurant. We got there just in time for the sunset which looked amazing. We dumped our bags in our room and ran into the water. The temperature was mostly warm, every three feet it got a little colder then warmer again which was strange. All three of us lay in the shallow waters looking at the sunset and looking back at the island which was covered in tree green mountains. It began to get dark really fast so we went back to our rooms and got showered and changed for a little meal.
They gave us a little bill book for each room and for the food and drink, so we abused the system and drank and ate all night. At the same time every night it pissed it down for about 15 mins so everyone had to move from the tables which were covered by a few bin bags, to the top part of the shack which had a solid wooded roof. There we watched a few films and went to sleep.
Like most days we didn't end up doing much apart from snorkeling which was great because all the boats stopped off at our beach for the snorkeling tours. There was some amazing coral reefs with hundreds of fish and a sh*t load of sea urchins which we lucky dodged the night before.
We met a few more guys one who was 17 from London and traveling strong by himself and another lone traveler from Holland who was hilarious, he drank a bottle of whisky a night.
After a few more nights of movies and beer we got ready for the full moon party. We only had a few beers because they sell buckets which cost around 200b which contains a whole bottle of whisky/rum/vodka and a bottle of concentrated red bull sprite and ice. I had seen a few clips of the party on YouTube at home, but it must have been a few years old because it just showed a load of backpacking hippies with dreads dancing to rave music. It ended up looking like Zante, lots of young good looking backpackers with up to date music blasting out onto the sea.
I had 3-4 buckets and a mint night but like I have said to a few people, I wished I was with the zante crew or even the 4 core boys, maybe next time?
After dancing till the morning we tried to get a taxi back which was a pain because they try charging stupid rate because everyone just wants to get back and sleep. We refused 3 taxi and ended up working a few minutes, even though the price difference was maybe a couple of quid I still didn't want to be ripped.
We made it back and only slept for a few hours because it was too warm in the rooms, so we ended up going to the local town. That night we were invited to join a few people who made a fire on the beach, we ended u drinking a bit too much and also a bit too much of the wrong stuff??? A bottle of whisky with a cobra and a scorpion inside of it, it tasted like fishy whisky HORRID!!!
The next day we rented some kayaks for free and went to a tiny rocky island covered in crabs and bird eggs where we sat and watched the sun go down again.
After 5 nights we checked out and paid for the bill which was only about 60quid each for the rooms, food and drink! J
We then got another taxi to the ferry with tom who was the 17 year old lad so there is now 5 of us. We headed for the ferry to Ko Toa where all the best diving courses are.
