After leaving Mount Bundy Station we were once again on the long trek to Three Ways, so named because there are three ways to go - south to Alice Springs, north to Darwin or east to Queensland. For us it was east. But before making the left hand turn we made the most of the few places we bypassed on our way up. We stopped at Katherine to stock up on food - cheaper than in the smaller towns. Our stay in Darwin was only 4 days but we packed as much in as we could. We stayed at the Oasis Tourist Park in Virginia, about 5 minutes from Palmerston and about 25 kms from Darwin. Fran and Bert went into the centre of Darwin and also visited the Aircraft museum. Fran even had a seat in the B52 which is in the hanger there. Litchfield National Park was stunning! We set aside three days to explore this area with its waterfalls, water holes and termite mounds. To get to Litchfield National Park you travel to Bachelor, a small town on the edge of the park where there was once a thriving Uranium Mine (Rum Jungle). The Alice has so much to offer and we ventured out to the West Ranges to Ellery Big Hole, a magnificent gorge about 80 kms from Alice Springs. We spent 4 days camped in the national park enjoying the beautiful surroundings. On our last day we headed further west for a day trip to Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen Gorge.
