After leaving Mount Bundy Station we were once again on the long trek to Three Ways, so named because there are three ways to go - south to Alice Springs, north to Darwin or east to Queensland. For us it was east. But before making the left hand turn we made the most of the few places we bypassed on our way up. We stopped at Katherine to stock up on food - cheaper than in the smaller towns. We camped at King River - a stop we had used previously. The next day we headed onward to the Daly Waters pub. The photo above is of the store/fuel station/odd bods stuff. This 'store' along with the pub are really great drawcards for the tourist and we had the recommended Barra and chips before moving on to check out the world war 2 airstrip where the abandoned hanger is still standing.
We were striking some pretty strong head winds as we continued down the road so we stopped at Dunmurra roadside inn, Newcastle Waters free camp and Attack Creek for about the next 4 days trying to beat the wind by leaving really early in the mornings and setting up camp before the wind picked up too much.
We arrived at Three Ways to be pleasantly surprised with the fuel price and prepared to head towards the Queensland Border.
