This morning we woke up bright and early to head out on a tour of Phi Phi Islands. The tour picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the port were we were greeted by our guid Bob. Our group had a large Indian family, a small Russian family and Melbournian couple. We were surprised that the Indian family spoke mainly English to eachother.
So we got on the speed boat and were informed that because of the rainy season it was going to be a long bumpy ride. I thought I wouldn't get seasick but still took the seasickness tablet. Thank god I did because he wasn't kidding when he said it was going to be bumpy. A little shaken by the ride we arrived at Phi Phi Leh. It was absolutely amazing. The water was crystal clear and turquoise despite it being overcast. We saw The Viking cave which was a big hole in the side of the rock coming out of the water were valuable swallow birds nests are collected to make birds nest soup. Around the corner was Pileh Lagoon were the water was calm and we got to swim in the water sarounded by these amazing high cliffs. It was a bit surreal. The location had been used to film some of Jurassic Park.
Next we went to the monkey beach were there were tones of tourists and as a result plenty of trash for the monkeys to play with. All the monkeys would steal the tourists sugary drinks and drink them themselves. Kinda sad but made for some funny photos. We also stopped off Phi Phi Don (another island nearby) for a snorkel which was great and included many humorous remarks from the matriarch of the Indian family about her sore behind.
We had a pretty average buffet lunch but the setting was incredible (it's the main photo of the post). The ocean was getting too rough so we stopped at a really small island on the way back and chilled for about an hour before heading back to the hotel.
Totally drained from the day (I know it sounds like we just lay on a beach all day but we were still tiered!) we flopped down by the pool an then went back to the room for a nana nap before dinner.
We went for a walk down to the beach a bit later and sat in the very swanky beach club before heading back to the room a bit later and dozed off after watching The Hangover.
Heading up to Bangkok tomorrow :)
