We left the chaos of Bangkok and arrived in Kanchanaburi and quickly found a nice floating room on the river kwai for about £10 a night and booked 4 nights. We found a lovely local resteraunt and ended up eating both lunch and dinner there the first day. We instantly felt at home and have fallen in love with this town. First night was a bit of a nightmare as we had a power cut around 12 (no air con, no fan!) but we got a free night out of it and changed rooms the next morning.
Did our first bit of hand washing on the river side although now we found out crocadiles live in the river so we wont be doing that again! We went for a long walk to the world war 2 and jewellry museum which was interesting and very educational. After this we continued walking and found a promo stand for the zoo, which was a tiger and leopard cub being bottle fed. We then headed to the river Kwai bridge and began crossing which was a little frightening when we got half way and realised how far down it was to the murky water below!
Met a lovely couple next door and we all went to watch the football. Not the best way to introduce antonio to people as he went through a mixed bag of emotions during the game. All was okay however as man u beat the scouse scum 3-2!!!!! After the football went back to our favourite restaurant before heading home for an early night.
Safari Park
We caught the bus at 1pm to head to the safari park and met another nice couple who we ended up spending the day with and having dinner with that night. Once at the park we went to see a crocodile show and an elephant show before going to see the tigers. We were both able to bottle feed a cub and young tiger (one of the most amazing things ever). the cub climbed up on to us and went on its back to feed holding its own bottle (So cute!)
We then jumped onto a small bus for the safari, with a few buckets of carrots to feed the animals along the way. We saw deer, bears, lions, tigers, giraffes and zebras. The deer, giraffe and zebras all came to the bus to feed and took the carrots from your hand. The giraffes were putting their heads through the windows of the bus and at one point we had more than five surrounding just us, eating the carrots from us or pinching them from the bowls. All the animals were well fed and well looked after, so angie was able to see them all without crying! It had to be one of the most amazing experiences of our lives, which we will remember forever.
The next day we went for a Thai massage and relaxed as we were travelling the day after to Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand.
