Headed out of Vang Vieng on the bus to Vientiene before catching a sleeper bus to Vietnam. We arrived to find out that the sleeper was not available due to a flood across the border. After demanding half our money back we got on the normal bus and although we were annoyed we had a few friends on the bus so knew we would have a laugh. We travelled to Vang Vieng on a mini bus that was meant to take 5 hrs but ended up taking 9. We were however quite lucky as we had a great group of people on our bus and we all suffered together. Travelled to Luang Prabang via bus - BIG MISTAKE!!!! What was meant to take 11 hours turned in to 14 with a tyre blow out and a girl being sick! Worst journey ever. Finally began our travels to Laos (although the correct local term is Lao), we went to the arcade bus station to catch a 9 am bus however, this was full and we ended up on an 11.15 bus. The first bus took 3 hours to get us to Chiang Rai were we had to change onto another bus for 3 hours to reach the boarder (Chiang Khong).
