The day had come when I would finally be reunited with my formal work wife. Cat arrived promptly at 9am to collect us and I heard that laugh around the corner before I even saw her! She had planned a mild walk in the woods on Mt. Warning, which was originally going to be a hike to the summit. Not the best idea for 2 accident prone girls and a boy that has previously been 'attacked' by wildlife (monkey in China).
On our drive to the mountain we were busy chatting away and catching up when a pelican flew over head. Cat's response to this was to shout 'Pelican Pelican Pelican!!'. Now the reason for this is due to an incident at work, when a pigeon (comically) flew in to the window next to us. The two of us had found the incident hilarious at the time and whenever Cat re-told the story she would always say that a pelican flew in to the window.
We arrived at Mt. Warning and layered on the bug spray but our walk was cut short due to a landslide from a few months ago, causing the path to be closed off. Cat did attempt to find us a tree snake and big spider but 'sadly' failed. It did mean we had time to stop in on a small cafe for milkshakes instead.
Next stop was Byron Bay where we could grab a bite to eat at a burger place, one hazard of open air shop fronts is massive outdoor cockroaches on the wall! By getting take away we went and sat on the beach to eat our lunch, followed by a beautiful stroll along the beach. Until we reached a lookout point for some incredible views.
The drive back to Surfers meant we could quiz Cat on Australian history and things to do on the rest of our trip. One top tip was to take a spare top if we went to hold a koala, Cat had unfortunately had one poo on her! All in all a lovely day and great to be reunited with my work wifey.
