Day 30
Arrive in Ko Tao and head to Crystal Diving School where for 9000baht you get 4 nights accommodation plus the open water diving course which is 3 days long.
Today we did nothing except sleep. The course starts at 1pm tomorrow for a fun filled afternoon of theory.
At night we got a few drinks and some nice food - Ko Tao is rather expensive though...
Day 31
Didn't wake up until 11am and just watched TV until 'school' started. The afternoon was just like being at school we had to watch videos then had tests on what we had just watched. Pretty straight forward. Anth was so trying to be teachers pet, the goon.
We were told we can't drink alcohol at night before any dives (didn't know this was part of the deal!) so at night we did nothing apart from homework (and yes Anthony you did copy my work!). We had an early night, school started at 8 am tomorrow!
Day 32
Woke up rather groggy - not use to these early mornings! We headed to class where we had another 4 hours of study. This afternoon is when the practical side begins and we are in the pool practising breathing under water and this is when it all goes wrong (for Kay anyway).
To put it bluntly I well and truly failed this part! It was HORRIBLE! I just couldn't get the whole breathing under water thing and after quite a few attempts, getting really panicky and frustrated with myself, I just gave up. Scuba diving is not for me!
Anth on the other hand was absolutely brilliant and took to it really well! Oooh he was like a little fish! I watched him for the rest of the afternoon whilst sunbathing on the side of the pool reading my book.
Anth confirmed to me later that I definitely wouldn't have liked it because you had to take your mask off under water and all sorts, I don't even like putting my head under the shower so that would have been a big no go!
Anth had an 11am start in the morning and as he still wasn't allowed to drink we just had another quiet night watching TV.
Day 33
Woke up at about 9am, got breakfast and Anth went off at 11am to go out to sea. I spent my day doing some retail therapy, getting massaged and sunbathing by the pool.
Anth got back at around 5pm and said he really enjoyed himself. He saw loads of different fish and says that it is like another world down there. He has a 7am start tomorrow which is MEGA early and tonight he snuck a few beers in tut tut tut!
Day 34
Anth left at the crack of dawn and I woke up at the same time. Anth was going further out to sea today to swim down to 18 metres underwater.
Just after he had left a huge storm came and my god did it chuck it down!!! Thunder and lightening at its best! The bungalow I was in was shaking, things were falling off the side, the electricity cut off twice - it was so SCARY! Plus I was cacking thinking that Anth is out at sea on a little boat and was hoping he was ok!
It lasted about an hour all in all and because I was on my own I just sang to myself hahaha to put my mind of it!
Luckily Anthony turned up safe and sound and he said he had a brilliant day to day and it was even better than yesterday. He said he saw loads more and was doing somersaults under water and things. Now is a fully qualified PADI Open Water Scuba Diver yey!
His dive had been recorded and was being shown in the bar at 8pm so we decided to stay another night so that we could watch that. We spent the rest of the afternoon having a few drinks and walking up the beach.
At 8pm we watched the video and Anth was ACE! Oooh loves the camera! Had a few more drinks ordered fish and chips that really were like British Fish and Chips and went to bed.
Tomorrow we leave for Ko Phangnan....
