Day 15
Got up at 8am we had to catch the a taxi then boat at 9am to head to Phi Phi. Boat journey was horrible!! I never usually get travel sick but I really thought I was going to be sick on this 6 hour boat journey!
Once we arrived at Phi Phi we were taken back by how beautiful it was - finally some beach!! After still doing no research about the place we needed somewhere to stay so found a internet cafe and booked a hostel on the island. It took us ages to find though and lugging those stupid bags around with us is really starting to get on our nerves! Luckily we found the hostel just in time before Kay got a grump on haha!
Now 'Luxurious Beach Huts' was how the accommodation was described online, well we couldn't see the beach from where we were and I wouldn't say they were luxurious at all (ants are everywhere and the toilet doesn't work, in fact things are coming back up it when you flush, condoms, etc ewwww) I suppose this is our first taste of true backpacker accommodation. Anyway Anth told the lad about it at reception and he said he will move us but not until tomorrow night so we had to spend one night there. Fortunately we had bought our own sheets with us and I slept right inside mine head and everything!
Just before we had got into our accomm, we had bumped into Big Phil (he is starting to annoy us now) he wanted to meet us so we begrudgingly we said we would at 3:30pm. We were laughing saying of all the people you could bump into on the island it had to be him and he was staying in a room just down from us doh!
When 3:30pm arrived we really couldn't be bothered going to meet Phil, it was pouring and I mean pouring down with rain and we just wanted to chill out. Oh our bungalows were up this gigantic hill with loads of steps so the thought of walking down them in the rain wasn't good! Anyway we felt too tight to stand him up so headed down to where we said we'd meet him and waited for about 10 minutes, in the rain, and he didn't show!! Ha after all that and he bloody stands us up!!
So drenched and bruised by the humongous rain drops we went to get something to eat and then decided to get a Thai massage each. Considering this was our first beach day the beach didn't seem very appealing as the weather was so bad!
The Thai massage was very nice though. Anth was clicking so much he sounded like one of those football clackers!
Talk about bad timing, as we walk out of the massage parlour we only bump into Big Phil who was surprised that we had turned up to meet him because he didn't think anybody would want to go out in the rain, huh ya think?!
Anyway we went for a couple of drinks with him, he really doesn't understand our humour and when Anth cracks one of his jokes that I find funny he cannot see why and then we have to explain the joke which takes the funnies out of it anyway...
Day 16
Today was just a plain old beach day - we did absolutely nothing. The sun was shining and sea was warm and we headed there first thing and stayed all day. We had bought a frisby and played that for a while but Kay couldn't throw it right and it sort of lunged through the air rather than glided so we stopped playing. A ball would have been better I think.
We both really caught the sun though. Kay now as numerous tan lines over her body and Anth's legs are getting darker - Kay's still have a long way to go.
At night we didn't do anything either just sat on our little balcony getting eaten a live by mosquitoes.
Day 17
Today was exactly the same has yesterday. Beached it up big time! Kay is now really burnt though on her face and shoulders. Luckily we had after sun so lashed that on over night.
Day 18
OH. MY. GOD!!!! Hang on let me read that after sun label a minute oh god after sun WITH TAN ENHANCER in other words FAKE TAN!! s***!!
Hahaha Kay now looks like a freakin umpa lumpa (see photo) yes the after sun was actually just aloe vera with fake tan in so now anywhere where I was burnt which was just literally nose, cheekbones and shoulders I had been plastering this "after sun" on without even rubbing it in! When I first saw myself in the mirror in the morning I nearly jumped out of my skin - talk about fake tan disasters!! Luckily (for Anth) we saw the funny side and were laughing our heads off for ages but I didn't go out that day. Instead i stood in the shower trying to scrub my face clean!
At night I risked it - we had a few drinks on the beach (mainly we sat there because it was pitch black) and then headed home a little tipsy!
Day 19
Today was definitely our best day of Phi Phi. We went on the Sunset Island Tour which is basically a 6 hour long boat tour which takes you around some of the Thai islands near Phi Phi and you get to go snorkeling.
First stop was Monkey Island which is exactly how it sounds, it has loads of monkeys on there. Anth and I managed to see two monkeys humping each other (trust us) so that was quite funny and we got a picture too haha.
Next was snorkeling and that was ace! It was really easy to do as I was a bit panicky about the whole breathing under water thing but I picked it up straight away. It was really cool seeing the different fish and plants.
Next stop, Maya Bay. This is where the film 'The Beach' was made and it was so nice. It really is like paradise here! We stayed on this beach for an hour. The sea is crystal clear and the sand is so white and soft, lovely!
Next to another beach (can't remember the name) that was really nice too then we headed to Shark Point for more snorkeling (no sharks though).
Then we had an hour to sit in the middle of the sea and watch the sun set which was really pretty and it is surprising at how quickly the sun goes down!
Today was a good day, Kay tried Pineapple and liked it! It was good to get off our backsides and do something.
Tomorrow we leave Phi Phi and head to Phuket...
