Day 87 - We arrived in Pakse at about 6am. Our first impressions of the place was 'oh god'! It was rather a dump, very smelly and dusty. We had high hopes though and were not put off by this. We headed to a guesthouse that the Lonely Planet had recommended. Once at the guesthouse, we were taken to a nice, clean, commodious room and as it was still on about 6:30am we went back to bed for a couple of hours! We rose mid-morning and went out in search for food. Unfortunately, our first impressions of the place were correct, the place was a dump. Ha well not that bad I suppose there was just nothing to do at all and it was pretty scabby. With this in mind, we booked ourselves on a bus to Four Thousand Islands which is meant to be beautiful for tomorrow. Food was still on the mind (as usual) as we still hadn't found anywhere to eat so we went to a small cafe to get breakfast. Anth ordered a full English that came our freezing cold and when we sent it back they bought another cold one out! We told them that we didn't want it and refused to pay. The waitress got so narky with us and was so rude we ended up walking out without paying for anything whilst she was still yelling at us! b****! Anth got something else to eat elsewhere and we pent the rest of the afternoon back at the hotel. When we arrived there, and Anth went to get a shower we noticed that he had this manky, bubbly rash down his left arm. We reckon it came from bedbugs in that manky hotel in Vientiane. Anth always sleeps with his arms out whereas I am always tucked away deep inside my bed sheet! When night time had come again and we were sleeping, Anth woke me up to tell me that there was a mouse under the bed!! Eugh!! The the mouse ran from under the bed to behind the wardrobe. I was not standing on the bed on one foot shaking like a sh*tting dog (I hate mice) and nearly in tears but somehow a managed to grow a pair of balls from somewhere, went over to the wardrobe and shook it like mad. The mouse definitely didn't come out so we reckon we squashed it although we didn't dare check!
