India to Asia by Kay & Anthony
Day 79 -
Wahoo!! Our trip to Laos starts today, bye bye Thailand we will miss you!
We had an early start, the next two days we were to spend on a slow boat sailing up the Mekong River until we eventually reach Laos.
I imagined that the boat would be a little more extravagant than it actually was, you know a bit like the QE2 cruise ship or something, it turned out to be a wooden barge with wooden benches to sit on and that's it! All part of the fun though!
We had about 9 hours travel time on the boat today and another 8 hours tomorrow so sore backsides were ahead of us!
In the end, it didn't matter that there wasn't anything else to do on boat apart from sit because the views we saw were spectacular. Every corner we turned on the river bought a new landscape with it so we certainly didn't get bored.
After the 9 hours on the boat, we finally docked and made our way to a guesthouse on the riverside to sleep for the night.
We started to take my dreadlocks out know which was going to be a long, tedious and painful job. Each dreadlock took about half an hour to take out so we only managed to do about four and decided we would just take a few out each day.
We had the best nights sleep ever tonight the bed was so comfy and we had just the most cosiest blankets!
Day 80 -
Day 2 on the boat today and we started at about 9am. Again nothing happened on the boat apart from seeing the most beautiful scenery again. We also saw a really nice sunset too. We finally arrived at Luang Prubang which is the most major city in northern Laos.
