After Gili Meno being so quiet, Trawangan was like Ibiza! There were so many more people and the place was really alive.
We looked around for a room and were told that there weren't many left so we took the next one we came across which was a bit more than we'd paid before now.
Steph G text me to say that Nikki Dawltry was in the Gilis, so whilst Ant went to do his first dive in Indo, I caught up with Nikki and had a beer.
Nikki told us that we would find something cheaper and said if anything came up she'd let us know. Luckily, a few days later the room next to hers came free and we moved in there for the rest of the week.
We hired some bikes one day and attempted to cycle round the island. My bike chain kept coming off and after about 20 minutes we decided it would be worth while taking it back to change it. Unfortunately, the tracks were mostly sand so we spent more time dragging them round than actually cycling. But it was nice to have a look around instead of just staying by the beach. We also did some snorkelling off the beach but the current was so strong, we would stop to look at a fish and next thing we were being carried off else where, so we gave up! It was pretty funny, but not overly safe.
We had a few nights out with Nikki and hers mate from Indo and maybe ten too many beers! Ant did plenty of dives but unfortunately still didn't see a Manta ray or whale shark, but theres still time.
One day when we were having some lunch, I looked up and thought I saw Adam Baldwin I knew from home. I had to look a few times before I realised it was who I thought it was and he was with a few others from Jersey! Its a big but small world!
On one of the last few days before we left the Gilis, we decided to top up our tans a little on the beach. We thought we'd passed the stage of needing lots of suntan lotion, but how foolish we were! We were both bright red and not looking forward to our 12 hour trip back to Bali and think we used a bottle of aftersun between us in one day! We shedded like snakes and vowed never to be so stupid again, but think I've said that before and still haven't learnt!
