We decided to cut our losses in southern chile as the weather was just too bad and it was so damn expensive to do anything and head up north. We booked onto a bus for the afternoon and heading out of town slightly to go and see the statue of mary overlooking the city. It was definately worth the time and money as we got to see amazing views of the city and it made both of us so much happier then we had been. We finally caught our bus at 3pm from santiago heading up to the desert town of San Pedro de Attacama. We had definately been spoilt on our last trip as this bus was not exactly brilliant but it would do for the next 24hrs!

The bus moved so slowly stopping every 500m to pick up dodgy locals who were obviously slipping them some money. The rest of the journey was quite uneventful....I managed to sleep which pissed mike off no end and got a jab in the ribs every couple of hours which made him feel much better! There were some crazy americans on the bus one of which decided to destroy the toilet and nearly make everyone sick...gross!

Finally 24 hrs after we set off we arrived in San Pedro where the fun finally began!
