Tour day 5. We arose early to climb the highest dune near our desert camp to watch the sun rise up over the Sahara. Another breathtaking moment we will never forget. Then it was back on the camels to the hotel where breakfast and a swim awaited. Then we headed for Todra Gorge. A place where between massive cliff walls lies a green oasis of palm trees. We took a tour through the valley and ended up at a local rug shop. The forever smiling host took us through a 20 min demonstration of how to make the perfect green tea stopping at every stage for "photo please, photo please" before proceeding to individually lay out over 80 different rugs for us to purchase. We eventually made it to our hotel that was literally built into the side of the gorge. Clearly the nicest place around yet it ran electricity on generator from 8pm and had no hot water.
