Tour day 4. A ten hour drive through the mid atlas mountains to the Sahara desert saw many interesting stops along the way. Close to the Algerian border we dropped our bags at a luxury hotel that bordered the desert, had a quick swim and refreshing green tea then packed an overnight bag and bordered our camels. The sun was setting as we rode well into the dunes arriving at our desert camp. Three local camel guides and Nour, our tour leader, laid out rugs and tables on the sand and prepared a traditional Saharan 3 course feast. After dinner as the stars came out, we tried our first shisha and listened to the guides sing and play local songs before falling asleep under the stars. An incredible night that we will not be forgetting any time soon.
