Last weekend Pippa and I went to Whitley to stay with MeJulie, Mark and Molly. Pippa knew Julie before she first came to Australia and this area is where Pippa lived after her family left the Isle of Wight.
It was a weekend with a few surprises and catch ups. The only photos I took however was our visit to Emley Farm. This is where Pippa lived when we got married and it is where we held our wedding and reception. Neither of us had been back in almost 10 years and her family no longer live there.
It is a National Trust property that her family lived in while her Dad worked for the National Trust. It is a really beautiful farm. The house is now rented as an up market holiday cottage sleeping 10 ppl. It was locked up so we were only able to walk around.
It is being kept nicely ,but for us it had lost the personal touch of a family home.
After visiting Emley we drove around the lanes and got stuck behind the Grillos. These were old neighbours who are classic Surrey Snobs driving there classic car through the lanes slowly so everyone can see how nice the car is. Pippa thought of ramming them, which I was also in favour of, but we would probably have more damage to our car, which would defeat the purpose.
Into the town of Godalming, where Pippa went to Six Form College, for lunch at the Slug & Lettuce pub. Sort of a trendy pub chain cross cafe. All very 'Surrey'.
Back to MeJulies for a BBQ. We drove into Whitley via Barry and Angela's and found their house. We had not seen them for 3 years and felt a little odd. But it was lovely and we had a pleasant couple of hours catching up.
Also on Saturday night we had a great Indian meal with Mark and MeJulie.
