Today we are headed off for Perth, in preparation for our trip across Australia to Adelaide which starts early tomorrow morning. So hopefully we'll be updating again in about 8 days time....

Went on the Fremantle Prison Tunnels Tour. The prison (no prisoners seen 1991) is now a cultural highlight of Western Australia (so we read). Checked out of the villa but didn't get ferry back to the mainland until the afternoon. Spent the day cycling and walking along beautiful beaches, before meeting up with Ben and Ali (http://www.werewines.com.au/) who were up from Margaret River. A very nice evening which included the world's largest plate of calamari and chips. Still adjusting to the price difference from Asia - prices for food seem much higher than the last time we were here. But everyth...

Hired bikes and snorkelling gear for the day. Explored the island and enjoyed the underwater snorkel trail although the water was a bit chilly to say the least. Enjoyed the peace and isolation as the sun set on the west side of the island, before heading back to the villa and vegetating in front of the seemingly endless run of US TV crime dramas that make up prime time viewing (CSI, Close to Home, etc).

Went over to Rottnest Island for a short break. This is the home of the native quokkas and we got up close and personal with them when they paid a visit to our back garden. Took a train to the centre of the island and ahd a tour of the WW2 guns.
