Up early for the Overland train from Adelaide to Geelong (just outside Melbourne). This was a 10 hour train but given some of the journeys we have had to date, the time seemed to fly, relatively speaking.
In train entertainment consisted of Nanny McPhee and Oliver Twist. There was a distinct split in the ranks as to the merits of these films. A-M rated, Dave hated.
We teamed up with the rest of the Gardner family coming on our hike round southern Victoria (Claire, Col and Rob) and after some quickfire bag packing we were on the road. The Great Ocean Road is one of the highlights of Victoria and our plan was to hike some elements of the nearby Great Ocean Walk (http://www.greatoceanwalk.com.au/). Our first stop of the trip was the YHA Eco Lodge in Apollo Bay.
