This morning we headed south out of Esfahan towards Yazd. We drove all day across a very flat, hot, grey-brown desert. There was slightly more military presence along this motorway - anti-aircraft guns all over the place. We arrived in Yazd about 5pm and checked into beautiful hotels with courtyards in the centre and rooms with aircon! Unfortunately we are only staying for one night! We managed to get to see the mosque and had a bit of a wander around the old town area before things closed for the night. We chatted to a nice Iranian guy who assured us that he wasn't a terrorist and that the people of Yazd are slim because it's so hot, but the people of Tabriz are fat because it's cold there. We also went into the Silk Road hotel and had a delicious camel meat stew.
