We've had a couple of nights bush camping on the road to the citadel of Tahkt-e Soleyman. It was the stronghold of Zoroastrianism around the 3rd century and was excavated in the 70s I think. The temples of fire, water etc are arranged around a effervescent crater lake, which actually looks quite like a crater, but is only effervescing slightly now. The ruins are mostly gone and there are no decorations remaining but you can see the layout of buildings and there are still a few with arched roofs intact. The site is ringed by mountains and the citadel itself with a high wall. It cost 5000 rials to get in (about 50c). Shane stayed on the truck for this one as he woke up this morning with a very painful ankle. We're not sure how he did it, as far as he knows he didn't hurt it last night or anything, but it is very painful to walk on so he is staying still.
