Hello everyone, well here we are in Perth. Good flight with Qatar airways, but landed here during a thunderstorm which didn't make for a good start as the plane in front of ours was hit by lightning just as it was landing. Took services 90 minutes before we could get off the runway and park. This meant our first experience of Perth area was in heavy rain and darkness. Upside was not much traffic so easily managed to drive to our accomodation and settle in. Next day (Thursday) still thunder rumbling and sporadic rain showers but mercifully warm. Sorry Englanders.

Visited Fremantle (Freo to the locals) a small beautiful city just 20kms from Perth. Lots of restored Victorian buildings together with an extensive seafront and marina makes a pretty place to visit. Back at our accomodation met a couple who are from Meopham! They are on a 3 week whistle stop tour of Aus. Even weirder, Carol, the woman, is originally from Lyon but moved to Birmingham and now loves UK more than France. We went out to dinner with them to a local Italian restaurant and had a great evening.
29/11 Friday
I was congratulating myself on not having any jet lag but then slept for 11 hours! Anyway, it's now cured me but meant a late start today. We visited King's Park and Perth's botanical gardens which was FAB. David enjoyed it because it was free, but wonderful nonetheless. I have fallen in love with with Perth/area because it is clean, neat and tidy, small ( compared to Melbourne and Sydney), and has a 4 sq km park in the middle of it!
