To break up the journey we had a short stay in a little town called Kampot. There isn't really much going on in the town other than it's stretch of bars and cafes along the riverfront; its best known for the river, the mountain, the home brewed cider & growing pepper. As soon as we arrived we hopped on a bike and headed for the mountain. It was around an hour and a half ride to the top up a decent new road built by the Chinese. It was a pretty cloudy day and after an hour we were riding into and above the clouds - it's was FF ( F ing freezing!) we could have spent the day looking at all the stops but it was getting late so we headed back and watched the amazing sunset as we rode. We took in turns going up and we were actually BOTH confident of the others driving whilst on the back. Jake acted as the chauffeur on the way down whilst Anne Marie was chief photographer. We then sampled the home brew Kampot cider, 7.5% went down way too easily and we were all pretty drunk before we knew it. It was then back to Kampot kennies for our kip. A bed cost $6 dollars. Jake can't sleep in hungover so at 8 he went for ride along the river for an hour leaving Anne Marie in bed. We could have stayed in Kampot a few days but want to make the most of our Vietnam visa. We also had to say goodbye to Jenny and George who we've been travelling with for 10 days. I'm sure we'll see them again. They're going to Australia to live after their trip and the more time we spend and talk to them, the more time we want to continue our journey and not come home! Next stop Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
