Day Four Friday 7th July 2023
We travelled to Bressingham Steam Museum & Gardens. Although this was a one-hour drive there was no need for an early start as the museum did not open until 10.30. We prepared a packed lunch and set off. The forecast was for a sunny day so plenty of sun cream and a hat was the order of the day.
When we arrived, there was already a short queue to get in, our plan was to purchase the ride tickets option so that we could ride the steam trains and galloper during the day. The cost of these tickets was £16.49 each, BUT we had a cunning plan and used some of our old TESCO vouchers to pay most of the entrance fee, getting in for just £2.98 in total.
The first stop was the coffee shop where we had a scone and coffee. This was situated next to the Gallopers. Gallopers turn around in a clockwise direction while carousels turn in an anti-clockwise direction. You learn something new every day! We both rode the Galloper before setting off to look at some of the working engines. During the day we rode on two trains and Anita rode the Galloper several times. We explored the museums and enjoyed the static engine displays including some 'Dads Army' artifacts. Of course, we had to have an ice cream to make the day complete before setting off home.
Enjoy the pictures and hopefully the videos if they upload.
Tomorrow we are going to visit a factory where they built many of the old steam traction engines. This is called the Long Shop and is just round the corner from where we are staying in Leiston.
Total travel distance was 101 miles.
