Day 29,30 (8/04 & 9/04) We arrived in Vietnam safely after a delayed flight. We being, me, Heren and Len, Canadian guy.We got dropped of at the wrong accommodation. Lots of guesthouseshave the same name,and we got dropped off at the wrong one. By the time we realised, the minibus we took from the airport had left. So we walked around and eventually found a place, with air conditioning to satisfy Heren. Next day we just explored the area. Not really liking Hanoi. Its nice, but there isnt much to do. But the main reason i dont really like it is the masses of mopeds around. They are in there thousands. And again, like Bangkok, horns constantly going off. I Don't even need an alarm;i can rely on the horns to wake me up at about 7am. Its like theres thousands of roadrunners on the road (the cartoon character)....."beep beep"..arghhh it does my head in. I think some of the bikes are even called road runners. Havent done much here besides walk around. Lots of shops around. We are located in the Old Quarter in Hanoi, which is where the original merchants trade resides. Its quite cool, but very crowded. Tomorrow we are off to Ha Long Bay for 3 days and 2 nights. Its On the east coast....directly east of Hanoi.And theres also a visit to an island called Monkey Island! :) I think we kayak there and then can sit on the beach and watch some monkeys. Also be sleeping on the boat for one night. Its a proper sail boat..not like the one i was on travelling down the Mekong. Looks quite cool.On the other night we will be in a hotel. Well Len and i will be in one hotel (2 star,the cheaper option), and Heren will be in a different hotel (3 star,more expensive) because he wanted air con. Also me and heren will be in seperate rooms on the boat..he went for the air con room again. Looking forward to Ha Long Bay, should be fun. The place has also been called 3 thousand islands, because theres about that many rocks (small and large) protruding from the sea. You'll see what i meanwhen i put the pictures up. Take care guys
