Anish's Travels
Day 31,32,33 (10/04 - 12/04)
Returned from Ha Long Bay this afternoon. Had a good time. The place is gorgeous. There are thousands of small mountain/cliff islands in the bay, and some have there own little untouched beaches. And the water is emerald green. And theres a low mist surrounding the bay, which gives it a cool mysterious look. First night we spent on the boat, which was quite nice. Some of the guys on the boat with us brought tequilla and vodka with them. The rest is history. Was a good night and Heren ended up falling asleep on the deck chairs at the front of the boat. The rooms on the boat were nice. The best i've slept in for a while actually. And by far the best shower i've had in a while. On the second day we saw some caves and went kayaking around the bay and to a beach on one of the islands..v.nice. While kayaking, we we passed between 2 flaoting villages (well not really villages, i dunno what to call them). There was a narrow pass between them, and the pass had a a couple of boats lined next to it. And there were loads of evil looking dogs running around and barking as we passed through. Heren and i were in one Kayak. As we pass through, a dog decides to clamber on two one of boats on the sides just as were we next to it. And this dog had some sharp teeth. And i swear it was gonna jump on our kayak. Its front legs were beginning to raise and Heren was gettin ready to batter it with his ore. That scared that crap out of me.
Unfortuneatly, didnt see monkey island due to my lack in swimming ability. The boat couldnt dock at the island, so it has to stop about 50 meters away and you have to swim the rest. Heren and Len went though. They saw about 4 monkeys. I dont mind though..my time with the monkeys will come, lol. Stayed in a hotel the second night on Cat Ba island. Didnt get much chance to explore, but what we saw was nice. The third day we just travelling back to Hanoi, so i just read a book for most of the journey with a stop of for lunch in Ha Long City. Food was wicked over the 3 days, i really liked it. Opposite for Heren though, there was a lot of sea food which he doesnt like. He managed to find some chicken on Cat Ba island, so he was pleasantly satisfied.
Back in Hanoi at the mo. 6pm here. Gettin some food, then taking the night train to Sa Pa, in the north of thailand, possibly to see some ethinic minority villages. Be there for 2 days and one night and then back to Hanoi, and on the same day we will take the night train to Hue, in central Vietnam which will take about 12 hours. So im not sure when i'll write again, and i dont have my memory card on me so can't upload photos just yet.
