We arrived into Sydney at just gone 7am. We did not have a good nights sleep on the coach, it was impossible to get comfy, the seats didnt go back far enough and it was cold. 10 hour journey with no sleep, not good. We found our way to the hostel I had booked but we couldnt check in until 1pm. We put our bags in a locker and went out to explore Sydney. It was cloudy the day we arrived but still warm and we wanted to see the sights, we had a walk around the harbour, which was really pretty. We saw the Opera House, which was underwhelming, covered in cream 70's tiles, but the Harbour Bridge is amazing. We did the walk across the bridge and went to the top of one of the pillars. You got amazing views from the top. The walk across the actual top was out of our price range. The lack of sleep was killing me and all I wanted to do was crash. When we could check in to our room, I fell asleep for a few hours, later on we went out feeling slightly more refreshed. Unfortunately the hostel I had booked was a s*** hole. The room was ok and for a good price, but the kitchen was disgusting and the rest of the hostel was just old and tired looking. I had booked 3 nights and I wish I hadnt. We ended up enjoying Sydney and stayed for an extra 3 nights, we moved hostel, which wasn't a bad thing, and ended up staying in the centre in a really nice hostel with a great kitchen!!! We made the most of our time in Sydney and visited Manly on the ferry, another day we caught the bus to Coogee and then did the Coogee to Bondi walk which was about 6km taking in some amazing scenery and beautiful little coves and towns. It was a very enjoyable walk. We arrived in Bondi late afternoon, the beach is nice but I didnt think much to the rest of it. We later had fish and chips on the grass near the beach. We caught the bus back about 7pm into Sydney. Another day was spent taking the train to the Blue Mountains, omg, it was magic up there. We were so lucky and the weather was gorgeous, we did a few of the walks in the Blue Mountains and later caught the train back into Sydney at 5pm. It took 2 hours on the train to reach Katoomba in the Blue Mountains and it was a great scenic journey. It is a lovely area. I wish I had stayed overnight and had another day there. That day when we got back into Sydney we decided to use the rest of our all day ticket and jumped on the ferry to Manly for the second time. We wanted to get our moneys worth from the day ticket which we purchased and we though it would be nice to see Sydney at night from the ferry, all lit up. We didnt end up getting back to the hostel until about 11pm, it was a very long but enjoyable day. To sum up Sydney, we loved it but I think I may of liked Brisbane a little more. Just my personal opinion.
Next stop, Batemans Bay.
