We have spent most of the day on the road, lid off and cruising over the German Alps. We have switched off the GPS and are following our "back roads of Germany" guide book - old school. The photos won't do this drive justice. There were lakes around every corner, some 800m above sea level.
I have a serious case if bike envy ; there are road bikes everywhere. Great roads and some awesome hills. Summer alpine riding without the flies!
A few sites which we have seen today that shouldn't happen;
1. Cyclists wearing bib and brace (jersey optional ) WRONG!!!
2. Too many cyclists descending long climbs with helmet protecting bike head stem and not the frontal lobe. WRONG!!!
Now it's raining and le Tour just finished for the day (though it's not the same without Phil Liggett) so I guess it's time to find a pub and have yet another schnitzel .
We are aiming to meet le Tour for Stage 18.
Until next time. x
