After an early start we set off in a private mini bus to Cambodia. Pok has lots of information to share along the way, everything from some background history, useful phrases and handy hints. We stop for lunch and then continue on to Siem Reap.
The recent floods have impacted greatly on the people in Cambodia. The rice fields have large amounts of water in them and local people can be seen in small boats, paddling around with fishing nets, and children also swimming in the unclean waters that have taken over their homes and gardens. As we get closer to our hotel the rain starts again . . .
We arrive late afternoon and then freshen up before being told that we are still able to go to the family that had been previously arranged to cook for us, but we would be unable to walk around their village as it had been flooded. Our mode of transport also had to be changed as the planned tut tut would not make it through the high water, so we loaded into the back of a pickup truck and held on tight! Check out our uploaded photos and videos . . . We somehow arrived safely and were warmly welcomed.
We sat and ate as they do, on the floor, and had an extremely delicious and great variety of dishes. After we sat and talked and played games with the children. The lady who had cooked for us is trying to gain the funds to build a school for the local children, so they can be taught English. I'm sure Ang had previously spoken to our tour operators as we got back in time to catch most of the united vs city match and she proudly put her shirt on too.
P.S sorry we have run out of time so pics to follow tomorrow
