Angie's Trip to England
Saturday the 25th Amy and I went to Bath Spa. We woke up, packed, and headed to Reading Train Station. There we got a train to Bath which took about an hour and ten minutes. When we arrived in Bath we had no idea where to go haha. We just followed signs to the town centre and finally made our way to Amy's friend Travis's store where he works so we could store our baggage. We then ate some lunch and walked around a bit. Bath is absolutely gorgeous. The centre of town is in the middle and surrounding it are hills with all the houses and such on it. It is really neat. We decided to do the tourist thing and visit the Roman baths which ended up being really beautiful. Of course Amy and I arent much for the actual history of it all so we just sort of took pictures and sped past all the dorks listening to their audio guides haha. After we finished with the baths we went inside the Abbey which was very nice as well. And then we decided to shop a bit. They actually had some really nice stores including one that had everything in it made of hand blown glass...including jewelry. It was awesome but very expensive so we didnt get to buy anything =( Before meeting Travis we went and got some gelato at "The Real Italian Ice Cream Shop". It was amazing! Best ice cream I think I've ever had...I cant wait until we go to Italy so I can eat some more!
At 6:00 we met Travis and walked to his "flat" to freshen up and store our things. We then met some of his friends to get dinner at a Hong Kong restaurant. It was really delicious Chinese food. After we ate we went to a pub where we sat down for a while just talking and taking pictures as usual. Around 12 or so we walked back to Travis's and went to bed.
Sunday morning we were pretty lazy getting out of bed and got a later start then we'd hoped to but thats ok. Ryan, one of Travis' friends offered to cook us a traditional English breakfast. It consists of bacon (english style...more meat, less fat), sausage, a fried egg, baked beans, fried tomatos, mushrooms, and potatos (we didnt have these though). Anyone who knows me knows I only eat half of those things but what I did eat was very good haha! After breakfast we got a taxi to the train station and came home to Reading.
All in all, it was a very nice night away. Travis is a really nice guy and he made us feel right at home with him. He actually studied abroad like us in Bath a couple years ago and he moved back her with a 6th month work permit. He arrived in October and leaves in May! Also, all of his friends were great too and seemed very interested in us, what we think, and America. It was very nice to meet them all!
