On my last night in Udaipur I was sick and spent all night throwing up and generally feeling terrible. I still made it early as I had a 5 hour bus journey to a rural village called Jojowar and it was pretty bumpy! At about 2.30, I made it to Jojowar. However, I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about the place, as I slept the whole time I was there and left at 9 the next morning!
23rd Nov: Arrived at Pushkar at around 2-ish feeling a lot better. It has India's only Brahma Temple and a holy lake and it's where Saddhus come from all over India. I went down to the lake and prayed and gave gifts to the lake and Brahma. To do this, you give a red powder (gives you healthy blood), rice ( food for a nourishing life), sugar (sweet life for you, friends and family), flower (represents the lotus flower that the lake sprang from), a coconut (gives you healthy babies!), a yellow powder ( Soul I think!) and then I had a red ribbon put round my right wrist to show I'm unmarried. I put all the gifts in to the holy water and prayed.
24th Nov: Went to the top of the mountain to visit another temple. Tthis was the hardest climb I've done - worse than the ones in Nepal and made worse cause I was still not 100 percent, but I made it up there and there were some great views. I then went down to the main street in Pushkar and had a little walk about the place. It's full of hippys the old ones, all looking like Bob Geldorf and for the younger ones, dreadlocks are a must! There is no booze, so a lots of smoking marajuana goes on here and I was constantly offered it, but I was in no mood for that after seeing the score in the Ashes!
