Despite the late night and tiredness from travelling the previous days we were still up by 9 as included in our hotel price was breakfast which we couldnt afford to miss out on as everything here is extortionate prices. Our eyes nearly exploded as we saw what was on offer, little sausages, boiled eggs, toast, waffles and maple syrup, all sorts of pastries including donuts and croissants, fruit salad, little boxes of cereal, yoghurt as well as jugs of fresh juice and of course coffee!! We made absolutely sure we couldnt possibly eat any more before we waddled off of the terrace where breakfast is served and back down to our room to collapse on the bed. A short while later the cleaning lady came round so we escaped to the terrace again before it started to rain and we were driven back inside where we remained for much of the day. It was absolutely heaving it down outside so we once more relaxed in the luxury of the hotel, comfy beds, free coffee, tv, wifi that works, air con, you know the little things you miss after 10 months travelling!! We also sorted out our washing (basically everything) and when the rain did eventually stop we walked the couple of miles to where we had been told there was a coin operated laundry that we could afford. That is definitely one thing Puerto Rico has going for it and that we've missed since we left America, being able to ask a question and get an answer that is straightforward, helpful and accurate!! And if someone doesn't know the answer, they say so and try and find out for you instead of just making something up. While we were waiting for our washing we walked to a local supermarket with the idea of getting some bits for tea but found it was completely useless and a wasted trip...the food was so overpriced it worked out cheaper for Andy to go to Burger King and get their 4 meal deal for $10 than it would have been to buy basic ingredients for a salad or even a good sandwich!! So once we had walked back with our lovely clean clothes (such a luxury not to have to hand wash) I sat and attempted to wax my legs with strips from the local Walgreens (really not easy) while Andy fetched dinner. We had anticipated the fact that we would have 4 drinks between us and so had bought a small bottle of Bacardi Gold Rum (well it is made here now as it left Cuba with the Americans!!) to go in them, which pretty much made the rest of the night for us as it was Sunday and we couldnt find out about any dancing going on anyway.
