Miami Beach and Timbalive.
We arrived at Miami Beach about 9am just as they were putting the deckchairs out. So being some of the first there we quickly claimed a couple for ourselves. And settled down for a nice few hours sleep having had hardly any the previous 2 nights due to the heat. We woke up around midday and headed into the water for a quick swim. The sea was almost at bath temperature, and I later heard on the lifeguards radio that it was at 86 degrees Fahrenheight. We were probably in the water for about an hour before it was time to go back to the sunbeds and read our books. We had time for another swim and to relax a bit until before we knew it a man came up and told us that they would be putting the sunbeds away in 10 mins. At this point we thought it would be wise to disappear before he realised we hadn't paid yet. As we walked back to the car we quickly found out that despite being in the shade all day we had still managed to get burnt :( so we decided to take advantage of the ridiculously cold air-conditioned McDonald's they have over here and also get ourselves a smoothie while we worked out where the dancing would be that night. The club had free parking so we arrived 2 hours early and had a quick nap before heading inside. It was a reasonable night, the band were quite good, although being salsa they were an hour late and the venue was nice and cool, much more so than outside in fact. However you had to pay extra if you wanted to sit down anywhere and the security guards seemed to make it a mission to get in the way and shine their torches (it wasn't that dark) in peoples face all the time for no reason. Although there were plenty of people dancing they only danced with the people they came with so we danced with each other all night. The floor here was just as sticky as that of the night before and with the sunburn on top of that we only stayed until 3am. We then drove out of Miami to a rest stop on the edge of the Everglades to spend the night.
