Wow, what a couple of days! After the coach marathon we detoured to the Mediterranean for our symbolic wheel dipping. We then decided to do some miles and cycled into the eastern Pyrenees for 40 miles, it was hot!
Alan used his Franglais to find a Chambre d' Hotes (translation B&B) it was perfect. The highlight was (after a few beers) Alan asking the 80 year old owner if he had a bicycle. Breakfast was quite an event as well as we made small talk with our friendly fellow guests. The main action then started as we cycled our way through the Pyrenees, helped by a 50 mph tail wind. A great 80 mile cycling day ended in the dullest town on the world. AB
A terrifying day's riding with a 40 minute climb over Everest followed by a 30mph drop through a whitewater rafting gorge. A 12 inch wall and 100ft drop to certain death.....but the most disturbing aspect of the day is Andy's jumper. It must be 35degrees and he has a green stripey Hamburgler jumper. I may have to kill him in his sleep. If I do kill him the blogs will end today.APL
