Part 2
The following morning we had found somewhere to sleep on the beach near the resort of Ao Nang and off we set in a shared taxi to get there, on arrival we were very happy with the choice we had mad and the View Son bungalows was to become our new home for the next 5 nights. We even got a reduction on the price from 26 pounds a night to 20, so well done us.
Now the Krabi area doesn't have the best beaches in fact it looks more like something from the wash then paradise.
The idea of staying in the area is the islands and the rock formations so with leaflets in hand we spend a very pleasant few hours working out what we wanted to do.
1st - 4 island tour in a longboat, this was super fun and we only 7 people on the trip we were very well looked after. The idea of this trip is that you go to 4 local islands, sun bath swim and wee in the sea, eat over priced food and get very sun burnt (not us we have just moved from factor 50 down a little). On this trip and I kid you not we had Tom Cruise (look alike), but we were to shy to ask for a picture but he really did look like him. More on the last island we went to later
2nd - James Bond Island, this is where they filmed part of the man from the golden gun, it was really to busy to see much as the 300 or so buses and boats all got in the way. Then on to a mangrove tour and kayaking if you want to (we said no, so don't panic mums and dads). Then to a water fall and back to the hotel, a great day out despite all the crowds.
3rd - Pee Pee Island - This time it got a very massive thumbs down as it was over priced and the speed boat we went in was so fall everyone was nearly seating on each others laps. This took us to sites on the island, let people snorkel and feed us some pigs swill for lunch. After lunch snorkeling again and thins time both Andy and I gave it a go, we had done it before in Egypt so we knew the crack. It was fine till I had a panic attack in the water as I couldn't get out, it lasted for about 10 seconds till I had more help then I could ask for. We were all given snorkels and somehow someone pitched the one Andy had with out us seeing and we had to foot the bill at 34 pounds to say I was pissed off would be the understatement of the year so far.
So you may think thank goodness nothing really happened but as promised back to the last island on the first tour. The highlight of this was the cave, we were given directions so it was ok but when we got there somehow we got mixed up with a green explore the planet tour and they helped us climb into the cave which is ok till you work out you can't go back the only way is forward into the dark and wet and scary, no torches or hardhats either. Well being brave on we went, through the water up to our knees up a bit down a bit and round the corner when …. It was so dark you couldn't tell which way was up left right etc. I'm shouting to Andy who was in front saying where are you, are you on my left. I can't type the answer I got back but I guess you can't tell if you're left if you can't see. Finally we found each other and continued up the passage till day light and we could walk freely. Now to get out the cave we had to lay on our belly's and crawl like babies as the gap was very small we had a moment when I thought o'dear, no what have we done. With only a few more scratches we had made it. The whole group and come through it with no casualties. We made are way back to the main beach before they could ask why we were with them in the first place. Our first go at caving and we both loved it; maybe we might try it again.
Next it's on to Koh Lanta where I know I will have found paradise.
Until later adventure lovers
