Well g'day friends and for those of you reading this thank you for waiting so long for us to update.
Our last update was all doom and gloom following the break in but there has been plenty of fun and adventure on the East Coast of Australia both before and after so we are now updating with the places we have visited.
We arrived in Sydney from Canberra on the bus which isn't the most glamorous way to travel but it was very cheap and after all the flying we seem to of done it was nice to have a break from flying. We stayed in an area of Sydney called Glebe which is a bit like Notting Hill in London. Arty, trendy, laid back and fun. With great second hand book stores we spent many a long hour browsing and even once or twice dipping into our pockets to buy. Once more it was a YHA we had chosen to rest our weary heads and it turned out to be a good choice as on the Friday evening they hosted an all you can eat BBQ with free beer all for about a tenner.
Sydney was everything and more we expected it to be. It truly is one of the most impressive cities I have been too. The obvious sights of the Opera House and Bridge are great as they are so recognizable but the best thing about Sydney is seeing it from the harbour on a boat. The Opera house was much bigger than it appears when you watch those important shots of the Sydney New Year celebrations and it is also made up of 3 buildings which you can walk round taking in different views of the harbour. The bridge is truly mind blowing and it was great to watch all the little ant people walking over the top in their grey overalls.
Darling harbour is another part of Sydney which is well known to many and hosts the largest amounts of restaurants and tourist shops, they have a monument to the Sydney games and it is the place to be seen.
After we had mastered the local bus network we had a great time exploring. One of the best parts of Sydney is Manly which we travelled too by Ferry. Fantastic restaurants and bars with a surprisingly clean beach considering it is considered a city beach.
We also had a tour of Sydney Observatory and got to see a few planets through a telescope which was cool considering it was daytime!
At our hostel we met a great couple who were just leaving for South America so they gave us there Australia guide book and their boogie board so we could play on the waves.
We left Sydney to pick our campervan up and was really happy when they upgraded us to a high top as they had ran out of their chubby vans. Thing started out well on the East Coast!!!!!
