Today we set off on The Waterfall Way, expecting great scenery and some stunning views, with waterfalls cascading down mountains and interesting walks. What we got however was slightly different. Some waterfalls were mostly trickles as the effects of so little rain became apparent. The first walking track we selected was like walking through a boggy marsh and like all the best explorers we gave it up as a bad job.
Not to be put off we found another track and did the rainforest walk and decide to walk to another fall via various look outs and information boards. Now with two ways to go we choose the left lane saving the more interesting stuff for the return down the right lane. Little did we know that after 5 miles hard trekking the bridge we needed had been closed. So back down the boring lane we had to go. All in all not our most successful walk ever, that was still to come and believe me when I say it was big, because it was massive.
On arriving at the camp ground which was shared with the YHA we thought we had ended up at the town dump. The standards had fallen along with the temperature. We had to scrape ice from the windows of the van and our little heater was made to work overtime.
After two miserable nights (having paid in advance) we moved to our next destination in Glenn Innes. On our free day however we did make most of our time available and visited tourist information to find there was nothing for tourists to do as they didn't seem to have that many so we went back to the campsite we went and slobbed, which is something we've become really good at.
