One of the things you can do in J'Burg is catch a plane to Livingstone to see Victoria Falls, so we did. The Jollyboys backpackers' lodge is only 15 mins. drive from the falls. We've been here three days. Time to go to the falls twice, [ yes they're that good and the water is at its highest at the moment] do a walking safari and float gently down the Zambesi to see the sunset.
We drove from Knysna to JBG stopping at Plettenberg Bay and Colesberg each for one night - about 1300km.
In JBG we visited Soweto with two other people and a guide who lives there.
The next day was quiet. We had to catch up with laundry, diaries and wash the car after driving it for 3600km.
On Easter Saturday we drove to the Apartheid museum 20km from our digs, spending five hours trying to absorb everything. We've never been so transfixed by a place and would eagerly go again for another five hours.
Two stats from Zambia: 8000 kwacha = 1 pound; at the moment we are told that 10,000,000 litres of water per second are cascading down the Vic. Falls.
We fly back to JBG today and then to India via Hong Kong!
