You'll remember we started our travels in Accra and stayed with Rachel. At the time we knew that Rachel's husband, Henry, was working in Singapore. So when we arrived in Singapore, Henry met us at the airport.
That was yesterday. This evening we're going to do the well known Night Safari with Henry, as soon as he's back from work.
We flew to Singapore on our first 747. It was a little ambition of ours to travel on one of these large planes. Journey time was only 1hr. 54mins. and Richard hardly noticed because he was chatting the whole time with James from Cardiff.
Thursday's visit to the Night Safari was wonderful. All the animals had decided to stay up late so we enjoyed watching them. Even the normally somniferous lion was on his feet.
Friday turned out to be a rest day apart from doing some urgent emails.
Today, Saturday, we've been to an island just off the ENE coast of Singapore called Pulau Ubin.
These outings involve many kinds of transport. We started off on the wrong bus so overshot a bit. A few stops back on another bus and we were soon in Raffle's Place. Henry, our host, has just spent an evening on call at the hospital, but he managed five hours sleep. So when we meet up he can't wait to be off on our trip!
Underground on an escalator next to catch the Metro. Then a taxi to the pier. It's a Bumboat next which doesn't sound very nice but the old wooden boat arrives safely. We hire three large bikes as we're all about six feet tall and pedal off across the island. Ana and Henry share ideas over a map.
