Our activity category is certainly trekking. We've just finished the four day trek to Machu Picchu on the Inca Trail.
It's ironic that our cameras should have been stolen in Argentina because Bolivia and Peru have been the most photogenic countries of our trip so far!
Even the non-fanatic would find the Machu Picchu orchids exquisitely beautiful!
But if he'd had to carry his camera, Richard may never have made it, he might, even now, be clicking away in a world of his own.
Having spent nearly two weeks at altitude we found the trek more manageable than we had feared. Richard had a few headaches but the knees and calves stood up to the challenge really well. But there are so many steps!
In a moment of absentmindedness as he stepped on the nth stone step, Richard realised that another milestone had been reached this year! Our ages now add up to 100! We're not holding our breath that we could do the trek when our ages add up to 110 or 120.
As the bus from Cusco to Lima takes 22 hours, we decided to visit Lima at this stage of our trip by plane, for about the same price.
