Unfortunately I didn't make it to the rainforest yesterday (monday 1st) but instead i decided to take myself off on a camel ride along the beach! The weather wasn't brilliant but it didn't really need to be as the camels were very chilled. My camel "moose" was a complete character and the constant standing-up-sitting-down made it a fairly scary but also a very entertaining ride. Also managed to nab some complimentary photos too, and when you're travelling you get excited about the smallest of things just because they are free!!! Also went on a wonder around the botanical gardens but made a fairly quick getaway as i was being eaten by all kinds of bug thingys... I've spent the last 24 hours by a secluded little beach at the spot x surf camp. First impressions were really good, everyone seemed to be really chilled out and the atmosphere was brilliant. Security and cleanliness of the rooms was a little dodgy but it was only a place to sleep after all. Was a nice treat to have all the meals cooked for me.... Nachos definitely hit the spot!!! They seem to surf all day and party all night, so by half 5 the goon was in full swing. A few surfers didn't quite make it to their 7.30am lesson this morning but thankfully mine wasn't till 9.30am. Everything was perfect about the morning except for my surfing skills! It was still brilliant fun though and the instructors wanted to have fun just as much as everyone else did. A group of us hired surf boards this afternoon to go and have a practise in some bigger waves. I'm still terrible at surfing but I stood up a few times and that's good enough for me! Heading to byron bay tonight. Thankfully I've now missed all of the Easter rush and craziness from the BluesFest. I've extended my stay a bit to give myself some time to organise the rest of my trip and hopefully get some paperwork done before all the shops shut down again this weekend, so I've now got till Saturday to sort a few bits. Weather meant to be blue skies again tomorrow so I'm hoping I can make the most of the beautiful beaches :) would be nice to have a better nights sleep tonight so I'm hoping the hostel is half decent!
