Hey,
Hope you are all well? I have had a pretty relaxing time, since arriving in Melbourne. Haven't really seen any sights as I plan on being here for 6 months so theres no hurry. The weekend after my last blog I did not leave the house. Partly due to a hangover and partly because I am becoming very lazy.
The job hunt did not start on monday as it was rather chilly and wet. I have only packed summer clothes so thought it was best to stay indoors. Lol. Tuesday was a good day sent my Cv to lots of jobs and had an interview that day. However it was for door to door selling and they were only willing to pay 40 bucks a day. I think not!!! Slave labour. I also sent my Cv for a telesales job (more on that later).
Wednesday was Australian day and having decided not to party like it was 1999, Sophie, Brent and I headed to Healesville Sanctuary - where I saw lots of Australian animals including a Kangaroo, Dingos, Emus , etc. We also went to a bird show that was hilarious as the birds did exactly what they were not meant to do. The bird keepers were getting very angry. Was interesting to see that you can train a bird to do things. One of the cockatoo's had a conversation with a Bird Keeper. After that we headed to Warburton a cute little village perhaps that had some cute little shops. Most were shut but was nice to walk around. Had some dinner the biggest plate of food ever thought I was going to pop!!!
The following day I had the interview for the telesales job (although it was not an interview more the employer telling us what the job involved and then saying we had the job) all very odd. Training started straight away. I have never done Telesales but I now know why not. I thought it may have been slightly easier than it was as it was selling an electricity supplier to customers whereby customers saved a lot of money. Unfortunately not. I then got really lost on the way home, had no battery on my phone and was pretty much crying as I had no idea where I was or how to get home. After going into a shop the lady phoned my cousin as I found her number on a piece of paper in my purse. Sophie came to pick me up turns out I was two stops away from where I am staying lol. On Friday I was put on the phone for 5 hours, it was repetitive and extremely soul destroying. I must have called about 400 people and not one person signed up. Decided this really wasn't the job for me and left. The money is only good if you can sell and I clearly cannot.
The weekend arrived and it was seriously hot hitting 40 degrees. The wind blows and you get slapped in the face by hot air! Not fun! So Sophie, Brent and I hopped in the car and drove to Philip Island to visit one of there friends. After several beers in the car, illegal yes but hey ho never mind. Brent the driver had a few sips but nothing major. Philip Island was beautiful lovely beaches and just a nice place. We hooked up with one of Sophie's and Brent's friends and proceeded to get somewhat drunk. At about 10.00 we headed to the pub which was a serious walk away, after walking for an hour we could finally see the pub! Thank god I nearly died of dehydration. Carried on getting drunk! I brought 2 tequilas and 4 pots of beer (about a quarter of a pint) for $50. Nearly died and needed more tequila to get over the shock. Had a really good night? Brent kept saying he was going to swim home. Sophie went with him in a cab. A much safer option. The following day we headed to the beach. It was so nice in the sea. Its was crystal blue and the sand was white. Headed home and crashed out.
Today I am meeting a friend from Sydney and recommencing the job hunt. I am looking for a sensible office job! My first port of call will be the Hays office which isn't to far from where Im staying.
Wish me luck
Lots of Love Amy x x x x x x
