Woke up, still in love with this fabulous city. It's so weird how one place can have such an effect. I got up, showered & used the complimentary shampoo & conditioner!! It's been about a month since I've used conditioner, no joke! It was lovely. Because my checked luggage was already on my place for Jordan (no one told me I didn't get it here) I had to wear the same clothes as yesterday. Just lucky I keep a spare pair of undies in my backpack! I then headed down to breakfast. If you've read my Johannesburg blog, you'll know I love their buffet breakfast. I'm here to tell you, this one was even better! I didn't know it could ever be better! There was so much food! Think sizzler times about five! And it was only breakfast!!! Wow I get worked up about food.. Anyway, I grabbed a plate, mainly with fruit, cheeses & cold meats and went and sat my the pool. Breakfast with a view is better then usual breakfast, everything tastes better :)
It was then back to my room to pack my stuff, which depressed me a little, knowing I did actually have to leave. I caught a taxi back to the airport, which took no time at all because it seemed my taxi driver was going in miles not kilometres! But it was super cheap so I guess it was okay!
Wow, my very short time in Amman as been.. Scary. So I was the ONLY westerner on the entire plane. Not even kidding! But that was fine, nothing happened there. I then got picked up my intrepid CEO, which was also good, he told me a lot about the area. It was when I got to the hotel. We drove past some amazing things, like the government hall, the famous blue mosque & the city church and it turns out I was staying just around the corner from it all. I really wanted to get some photos, and was told it would be safe for me to go out. I figured it was very close, I could do it. So I did.
As I'm taking photos of the blue mosque, a young guy approaches me and starts trying to talk to me. By trying, I mean he spoke no English what-so-ever. I think he was asking if he could take a photo of me, which he ended up doing anyway. I then started walking down the street and he followed me, holding out his hand so I could hold it!! Luckily in Africa I learnt if I put a gold band on my wedding finger, you generally get harassed less. So I showed him my hand, told him I was married. That backed him off a bit, but not completely. And then offered me a banana. I tried to say no, but he just handed it to me! Like opened my hands and put it in! Okay, sure. I'll have a banana. So then he started recording me. It was already creepy enough, then he got me to pose with a BMW. I really wanted to get away now, so I turned back and started walking away, which he followed again, and stopped me, asking some nearby kids to take photos of us together.. Argh! Didn't he get the picture! After that he handed me a mandarin, same deal, just put it in my hand. If he kept going at this rate I'd have breakfast sorted tomorrow. We were getting closer to the hotel, and I was certain he was going to follow me up but LUCKILY one of the workers were outside having a smoke and made sure I got in safe. I decided I was never going outside by myself again.
After that ordeal I was sitting in the lobby starving, so I ordered the only thing this hotel offers - chicken & chips! It was really good as well!
I also met 3 of the girls on this trip, which I was glad about, now I have some idea who I'll be with. They are all from Melbourne & have another friend arriving tomorrow. There are only 6 females on this trip! Much different to the g-adventures one I did. But I think it will be good.
After eating & talking to the girls a bit, I headed off to my room to have a shower & I watched some shows on my iPad before falling asleep.
