Tuesday 5th May
4:45 comes too soon. We get up and pack up and leave about 5:30. The trip to the airport is about 40 minutes. It's in a new domestic terminal: nice but small. We check in then share a hot chocolate and croissant. We say our farewells and go through the gate. The flight is uneventful. No screens and I try and sleep the whole way. It's hard to concentrate on much when you're exhausted.
We catch a small city bus into town we check out a few places at the terminal. A JW guy gives me a Spanish pamphlet. I think it's something about the bible. We walk to our hotel- and there are no signs. Only a door bell. So we ring it and wait. At some point a lady comes out next door and points and says something in Spanish about entering via the shop. A man leads us out the back and up some stairs. There are a few apartment rooms. He continues to rattle off in Spanish and we have no idea what he is saying. On further inspection it is indeed poor. We choose for cost, double bed and kitchenette. The kitchenette consists of a bench and sink, jug, toaster and fridge. No cooking facilities and no utensils like pots. No microwave. Disappointing to say the least. There's not much you can cook with a jug and toaster. The man brings us some bananas and a quilt. The best thing is that the wifi is good strong and fast. There is a pool and a kind of barbecue device that looks like it requires a fire. We rest and I do some research on visiting the falls. Then we walk back down to the bus terminal. We look at a tourist info place and book a boat trip while at the falls. We don't have enough cash, so Malcolm walks back to get some. I talk to the guy- a Argentinian American. Lived in the states and Argentina all his life. His parents are Argentinian.
We walk back to the apartment and look at restaurants in the way. We stop at the supermarket, but it's closed for the afternoon time. We rest some more at the apartment. We go out for dinner about 5:30. The food is good, but they are so slow bringing the bill and I'm exhausted, the we go up to pay. We stop at the now open supermarket to buy a few things.
The shower is pathetic and only heats to a tepid temperature sadly. After the shower I hop into bed and see why the wall is rotting- the shower leaks-a lot!
At least it's private and quiet.
