Wednesday 29th April
Getting up is also awkward as the others show no signs of getting up, but it's 8:30 and we want to get going. We get up as quietly as possible. I think next time we might choose a room with more than 4 beds. I guess it's trial and error. A skimpy breakfast is included and then we get our stuff and check out. It's overcast and windy, but no rain- yet. We head off towards the beach. There are reeds at the edge in places, more like a lake. There a few spits of rain, but they pass. We reach the 4.25km mark and then it start seriously raining. We check out the handcraft shop and then head out into the rain with our ponchos. A guy on a bike asks if we brought them in the handcraft shop. We pass a few historical stops. My jeans are getting wet and my foot is starting to ache, plus I'm hungry. I'm ready for this to be over. A little dog joins us for quite a way. I don't like him coz he runs out on the road when cars are coming; Malcolm thinks he is like are guardian angel.
Eventually a group of dogs send him running.
I'm very grateful to get back to the hostel and heat up leftovers for lunch. It's even better today! We relax awhile then head to the ferry terminal. I'm much warmer when I remove my wet jeans!
The ferry back is much larger, and very smooth in comparison. There are even shops aboard and a VIP section, which we accidentally tried to enter. Evelina is waiting to pick us up once we clear customs. She takes us to her partners small studio town apartment. It takes a long time as is peak hour traffic. Once we get settled We walk around the area and go to a restaurant that serves local food. It was amazing! We don't quite miss the rain on the walk home.
